However there\u0027s also the Algae Farm. It\u0027s just a pond of sorts, so it doesn\u0027t need power to run. Since it also doesn\u0027t really follow normal recipes, you won\u0027t find any NEI recipe page for the Algae. The multi just produces them on a regular schedule.\n\nThe tier of the multi is given by the casings on the bottom layer of the multi, which all have to match to decide the tier. Each tier decreases the time of the production cycle by a factor of sqrt(2), which means the farm gets faster with each tier.\n\nAt the same time, each tier increase also adds to the amount of Algae you get in a single cycle. Most forms of Algae, except for the first one, are only added in higher tiers. The Algae Farm also accepts Compost, that you can make from the algae itself, to boosts the multi\u0027s tier by one. This might be expensive at the start, but it\u0027s heavily recommended in most cases.\n\nThe Algae can be used for various chemicals like Methane, Ammonia, Sulfuric Acid, and even some power-generating fluids. You typically need a Chemical Plant for that. In IV tier you can also combine Green Algae with Glowstone to get Glowing Coral and make Sunnarium from that.
